The entire CSHM website will move from it's development server to a server that is encrypted using SSL high-grade encryption (AES-256 256 bit) when it goes in to production in November 2009, the same encryption used by financial institutions for online transactions. It is therefore very unlikely that anyone can read the information as it travels across the Internet.
The personal information you provide will only be used for purposes of authentication. The information is not provided to other third parties and cannot be viewed by other users unless permitted by you. Should we decide to provide your contact number to third parties for surveys or marketing purposes, we will contact you to obtain your permission beforehand. You will have the option to decline this offer.
The CSHM undertakes national surveys periodically, and may use its website to contact you. These surveys are designed and carried out by the CSHM, and you will have the option to opt out of them. They aim to provide an overview of the state of Hospital Medicine in Canada, and the results may be published or presented at national and international meetings and conferences in an aggregate format. No individual responses will be publicised and strict anonymity will be maintained.
CSHM keeps information on its server in log files including information such as the time of access, browser type, operating system, etc. This information is only used to ensure quality service and to track any unauthorized use. This information is not released to any third party. The only exception is if we are legally compelled to provide this information.
