Hospitalist - Rehab Hospital (Toronto)

Academic Hospitalist Physician

Sinai Health System (SHS) combines acute care, complex and rehabilitative care, primary care, home care, and other community-based services to create an innovative and integrated continuum of care across the life course, from healthy beginnings to healthy aging. This includes a strategic focus on developing and delivering seamless, integrated care in hospital, community and home, particularly for the most complex patients. The SHS is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine, expanding the scope of the Wightman Berris Academy and developing the clinical, educational and investigative synergies, among complex acute and chronic conditions, and rehabilitation.

The Sinai Health System is seeking applications for a full-time physician whose primary practice will be in the inpatient setting. Applicants must possess a MD and CCFP or FRCPC certification (or equivalent) qualifications, and have, or be eligible for, licensure in the Province of Ontario. They will be a member of the SHS Interdepartmental Division of Hospital Medicine, and be appointed to either the SHS Department of Family and Community Medicine or the UHN/Mount Sinai Department of Medicine, based on training and qualifications. They must be eligible for an academic appointment, in their appropriate department in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The candidate will have significant experience and training in the practice of inpatient medicine; such training might include a dedicated hospitalist fellowship (for family physicians) or training in General Internal Medicine or other internal medicine subspecialty.

The physician will provide primary care for inpatients hospitalized within Sinai Health System. They will teach interprofessional health care providers, postgraduate medical trainees, and medical students on inpatient educational rotations. The successful candidate will work at the Bridgepoint site as part of a group of academic hospitalists working fulltime at Sinai Health System. The candidate will make an academic contribution based on training and area of interest which includes medical education, quality improvement and clinical innovations, and research. Compensation and Academic Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Sinai Health System is strongly committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from visible minority group members, women, aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, members of sexual minority groups, and others who may contribute to further diversification of ideas.
