Lake of the Woods District Hospital is located on the shores of its namesake nestled in the beautifully rugged Canadian Shield. Kenora is the first city in the western most part of Ontario and is located approximately 200 km from Winnipeg. This is a paradise for those who love nature and the great outdoors. The area is well known for first class fishing, boating, sailing, canoeing, golfing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. There is amazing wildlife and scenery in our immediate area – deer, bears, moose, eagles, muskrats, otters, and wolves. Kenora hosts its own arts, music festival, live theatre and musical performances. Kenora has a population of approximately 15,500 and a catchment population of approximately 32,000.

Practice Opportunity Profile

  • Hospitalist coverage - most responsible physician (MRP) for unattached hospital medical inpatients.
  • Locums needed for 5 or 7 day time blocks (Interest in full-time or part-time hospitalist work would also be considered).
  • Would be on-call during the time block.
  • 10 to 14 inpatients on average.
  • Opportunities to combine hospitalist coverage with other practice opportunities such as family practice locums, emergency medicine shifts, surgical assist.

Remuneration

  • The physician would maintain 100% of OHIP billings for inpatients and Hospital On-call Coverage, with opportunities for other sources of income available.  The community is considered underserviced and physicians are eligible for generous underserviced area funding. Further information is available to interested physicians on request.

Qualifications

  • Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
  • CCFP (Family Medicine) or  FRCPC (Internal Medicine)
  • ACLS
  • CMPA or equivalent
  • Previous experience in hospital inpatient setting.
