Urgently Recruiting Hospitalists/Unassigned Patient Physician – Permanent and Locums Opportunities

The Hospitalist play a valuable role on the core service team at many hospitals and is responsible for the general medical care of hospitalized adult patients, and co-management of surgical, and psychiatric patients. This position does not include any Obstetrics/Gynaecology or Pediatrics coverage.

As the hospitalist is commonly faced with acutely ill patients and their families, the role demands superior clinical and communication skills, and the ability to work with other members of the health care team. There is an essential interface with discharge planning experts, community resources and family physicians which requires a high level of collaboration.

The Hospitalist service is supported by a complement of specialty services including Anesthesia, General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Radiology, Urology and Oncology. Tertiary care referrals are made to Kelowna. The hospital also has a full complement of allied health care professionals on site.

Hours of coverage: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., with an average of 15-20 patients per physician.

On Call:  MOCAP Level 2 for off-site call from 5 p.m. until 7 a.m..  Flexible and sustainable scheduling. Participation in after-hours call is mandatory.

Compensation:  Clinical Service Contract

Permanent:   Estimated remuneration $244,200

Locum:         10-hour shift = $1,344.80/day + MOCAP (level 2) 14 hrs/day = $263.76. Travel and Accommodation included at applicable IH rates.

Qualifications:

• CMPA - Mandatory
• Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) Eligible - Mandatory
• Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) - Desired
• Current College of Physicians of BC License – Provisional
• ACLS - Desired

Overhead:  None.

Incentives:  Relocation reimbursed up to a maximum of $10,000 or $15,000 maximum if the move is over 3,000 km's or international with receipts (if eligible).
